My daughter is at her 2nd day of orientation so I am happily spending the day writing! I tried to write yesterday but that didn't work out. I haven't spent a day writing like this in months! So it makes me happy. Next week I had specifically planned to do some writing while my daughter was in classes. She starts on Monday.
Today I thought I'd work on the first pages of a previous manuscript that I've been querying but haven't sent a query in weeks on it! And then work on my new wip. I guess I better try to fit laundry in there somewhere too. :)
I hope you are all getting in some writing and reading time as well.

I am Down, Way Down
UNDER! Yep, Sydney, Australia is where I am with my daughter. I've always wanted to go and now I still cannot believe I am really here. My first impression taking the taxi to the hotel and doing a little walking around is that the city itself reminds me a lot of Seattle (so far). My daughter thought the same thing. This is where she will attend the University of Sydney for a semester.
Right now it's 4:30 am and my sleeping schedule is way off. I've been awake for awhile trying to think about my new WIP. But at the same time, I had several tiny inspirations for new stories while travelling here that I need to write down. It's amazing how travelling to a new place whether near your home or far away can get the mental juices flowing. :)
This made me wonder if little road trips or big trips give you inspiration in your writing? As long as I turn off the radio in my car while driving, I can get inspiration for new ideas or story problems I need to solve - even if I'm just driving across town. :)
Happy writing all!

Long Break
Wow, I've been on a long break from blogging. I think the A to Z Challenge did me in along with just being super busy this summer. Not to mention I got the flu for a couple of weeks which was horrible. Needless to say, I'm getting a flu shot this fall, for sure!
I haven't been writing much either, although I'm plotting a new WIP here and there. This new story is so different than anything I've written. I also wrote a couple of pages to try a new 'voice' out. I think my voice must be too similar to other writers out there and might be part of my problem. It's not easy trying to change it though when that's how things come out. I'm not sure if the new one is working. (I'm going to keep trying though) :)
Anyway, I'm attempting to ease my way back into blogging, but I am getting ready to go on a big trip with my daughter in about a week. She'll be studying abroad for a semester and I'm going with to help her find a place and get settled. I think it will be fun, exciting, and a little nervewracking. Hee Hee :)
I hope you all are having a wonderful summer.
Happy Writing!
