Not sure why this came to me today, but once someone asked me if I had an overactive imagination. I know that I do, always have - it's the writer in me. But, the way this person asked me, in a very condescending tone like it was shameful, a peculiarity, or some disturbing character flaw, really bothered me.
So I said no, I didn't have an overactive imagination and I smiled it off.
I've regretted it ever since. Because I'm actually proud that I have this overactive imagination. So I just wanted to say to people I knew would understand, that I will never apologize for it again.

Good for you for deciding never to apologize again. Your imagination is your gift and you should revel in it. I used to care what people thought and I've been trying not to. I let my freak flag fly loud and proud anymore. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteGood for you. Rah.
ReplyDeleteCreation is the greatest gift in life. A toast to Creativity.

In the past I would have reacted as you first did. I thought my crazy imagination was something to hide. But I realize now what a kick-butt gift it is, and I feel sorry for those dull-brained people who have to ask absurd questions like that. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, imagination is a gift--and what would a writer (or a mom with young kids for that matter) be without it?! Glad to know you're embracing imagination and creativity, and running with it :-)
ReplyDeleteGood for you! There's nothing wrong with an overactive imagination. If they didn't exist then the world would lack in creativity.
ReplyDeleteI love having an overactive imagination. It's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love this post. Love it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, all. The world would be a bit of a bore wouldn't it, without overactive imaginations. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm with you. Many people have given me "feedback" about things in my life and now, I'm just at the point of saying, "AND YOUR POINT IS???" Good for you, girl.
ReplyDeleteIf there weren't overactive imaginations, how would we have computers, Harry Potter, or trips to the moon? I think we're in better company than those with little or no imagination.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there's such thing as an overactive imagination. What's wrong with seeing all the possibilities? ;)
