Forget the Dumb Stage - Now I'm Just a Dumbhead

Oh, man...

I decided to take a few days away from my current WIP to redo the query and first chapter of my last WIP so I could start querying while I'm writing my current one.

I looked up a few agents I wanted to send to during my lunch hour today and found their blogs and websites and scoured their submission guidelines and for this one agent that I've been waiting months and months to query, it said they needed the query and 3-5 pages.

In my haste to get it sent off during lunch, I forgot the pages!!!

I'm so mad at myself. This agent really knows, you know, her stuff and she doesn't take no, you know, stuff. So I've already marked my query status doc for her as a big bold NO, you're a dumbhead. (It will remind me when I go to query her the next time.)

Well, at least I'll have my current one to send when I'm done and I'm sure I will not screw it up then. Lesson learned.

So, I'm just curious if anyone can top that? :)

The Dumb Stage

Well, I've been writing and writing the past couple of weeks or so and then went on a tiny get-a-way the past few days. I got some fresh air, saw the water, and had a nice relaxing time.

When I came back to dig into my story again, I thought it sounded so dumb! For some reason, I go through this stage with every novel I write - what's up with that!

Luckily, I always get over it and keep going. It usually takes a few days but this time I got over much quicker. Last night I thought it was dumb. Today I'm back at it and think it's not so bad.

The way I get over it is to keep reading through the story. That's when I find that I've come up with some pretty good lines, plots, and characters. Some things I've written even surprise me - in a good way.

So, do any of you go through this stage? And if so, what do you do about it?

Happy Writing!

Some of you I've been able to find already. :) (thanks to Becky Taylor - I kind of sprung board off her)

Gone...but not Forgotten

Erinn over at Something Else to Distract Me is hosting the Gone but not Forgotten blogfest. We are to list our top 5 television shows that are no longer making new episodes (but still might be in syndication). There are so many to choose from, here are mine.

1. Lost - what more can I say.
2. Jericho - lived a very short life but it's my kind of story line (post apocalyptic)
3. Gilligan's Island - who doesn't want to be stuck on a tropical island paradise.
4. Star Trek (the original). Maybe this is where my love of sci/fi came from.
5. Charilie's Angels - loved this one too. Did I ever mention I was a private detective for a couple of years when I was young. ;)

By the way, Erinn is also having a contest and giving away 3 fabulous prizes. You can win a $25 Amazon card, Where She Went, the sequel to If I stay, or a FULL, yes, let me say that again, a FULL manuscript critique! So if that sounds as awesome to you as it does to me, head on over and enter.
